Make this easy cinnamon simple syrup to add to mocktails or cocktails, to sweeten coffee drinks, or instead of maple syrup on pancakes, waffles or French Toast!
3longcinnamon sticks, brokenor 6 short cinnamon sticks
Instructions
Combine equal parts of water and sugar (one cup water and 1 cup sugar) in a small saucepan. Stir over medium heat until the sugar has completely dissolved. Bring the mixture to a boil.
Add the cinnamon sticks, turn the heat down, place a lid on the pan and let it simmer for 5 minutes.
Remove the pan from the heat and let it sit for an hour or longer to allow the cinnamon flavour to infuse into the syrup.
Remove the cinnamon sticks and transfer the syrup to a sterilized container with a lid.
