Deliciously crispy hot honey chicken wings recipe! These hot honey wings are sweet, spicy, packed with flavour and make a tasty appetizer or game-day snack.
1 to 2tablespoonsbaking powder,gluten-free if necessary
½ cuphot honey
Instructions
Start by making 1 cup of hot honey and set it aside. You can make this well in advance, as it will last for up to 6 months.
Combine the poultry seasoning ingredients. This spice mix can also be made ahead of time.
Pat the wings dry, then transfer them to a large bowl. Toss the wings with poultry seasoning, then with baking powder.
Arrange in a single layer in your air fryer basket. You will probably have to cook the wings in batches. It's best to sort the wings into drumettes and wingettes and cook them separately so they cook evenly.
Air fry for 7 - 10 minutes, then use tongs to flip the wings over. Continue cooking for a few more minutes or until the thickest part of the chicken registers 165°F. on an instant-read thermometer. Air frying times will depend on the type of air fryer you have. Some cook much more quickly than others.
When fully cooked, remove to a bowl and toss with hot honey to coat the wings. Serve hot.
Notes
Refrigerate leftover wings promptly. They should not be left at room temperature for more than two hours. Store them in a covered container in the fridge and they'll keep for 3 to 4 days.To reheat chicken wings, place them in the air fryer basket that you've sprayed with oil, set the temperature to 350°F. and check after 4 to 5 minutes to make sure they're heated through. Since the wings have been coated with hot honey, they will be sticky and may scorch. You may wish to line your air fryer basket with parchment paper.Freeze cooked chicken wings in a single layer, then once frozen, transfer to a resealable freezer bag or an airtight container. When you're ready to serve them, thaw overnight in the fridge, then reheat in your air fryer at 350°F. for about 4 to 5 minutes. For Oven-Baked Hot Honey Wings: follow the instructions in the recipe, arranging the wings in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake at 400°F. for 20 minutes, use tongs to flip the wings over, and continue baking for 15 to 20 minutes or until the internal temperature of the thickest parts of the wings have reached 165°F. Remove to a bowl, toss with hot honey and serve hot.
