You'll love the delicious balance of sweet apples and crunchy pecans in this easy-to-make apple crisp dessert. Warm and comforting for fall and winter, this gluten-free apple crisp has a buttery, crunchy oat topping and is topped with optional caramel sauce.
In a medium bowl, stir together the oats, pecans, flour, cinnamon, coconut or brown sugar and ½ teaspoon salt. Add butter and stir until the mixture starts to stick together.
In a separate medium bowl, gently toss the sliced apples with lemon juice, the remaining sugar and cornstarch until well combined.
Transfer the mixture to a 2-quart (2 liter) baking dish. Top evenly with the crumble mixture.
Bake at 350°F. for 30-35 minutes or until fruit is bubbly and topping is golden brown.
Serve warm with caramel sauce and/or ice cream, dairy-free ice cream, whipped cream or Greek yogurt.
