This paleo Chocolate Almond Smoothie tastes like a rich and creamy nutty chocolate bar. Sweetened naturally with ripe banana and dates, it is packed with protein and keeps me feeling full all morning.

This paleo Chocolate Almond Smoothie is our favourite go-to breakfast when we want a change from our other morning smoothies, (or when I don’t want to run out to the garden in my PJ’s to pick some kale for a green smoothie.)
Made with almond milk, almond butter, banana, dates, cocoa and hemp seeds, this Whole30 smoothie is a rich and creamy high-protein way to get your day off to a great energizing start!
Substitute your favourite non-dairy milk for the almond milk, or use cocoa instead of cacao if you prefer. It will still taste like chocolate heaven.
Just whir everything in a blender, grab a glass or a travel mug and begin your day with a burst of energy.
Your body will be grateful.
Chocolate Almond Smoothie
- 1 cup almond milk or other non-dairy milk
- 1/2 ripe banana
- 1 tbsp almond butter
- 2 Medjool dates, pitted
- 1 tbsp ground cacao or cocoa
- 1 tbsp hemp seeds (hemp hearts)
- 2 ice cubes
- cacao nibs or cocoa or cinnamon for garnish
- Put all ingredients except the cacao nibs in a blender and process until smooth. Garnish. Double the recipe for 2 servings.
