Thirsty kids? Friends dropping in? They'll appreciate a healthy mocktail or non-alcoholic drink on a warm summer day, like this Sugar-free Grapefruit Ginger Mocktail, Organic Ginger Mint Cooler, Wild Huckleberry Mint Mohito Mocktail, or this Simple Pineapple Ginger Kombucha Mocktail!

With fresh honeydew melon in the fridge, I developed a new non-alcoholic drink recipe! This honeydew lime mocktail is easy to make at a moment's notice.

You'll only need a few simple ingredients. Toss them together in your blender, blend until smooth and serve this non-alcoholic honeydew melon cooler on sunny summer days. And remember, it's also sugar-free!

Labeled ingredients for Honeydew Lime Mocktail
    • honeydew melon: you can use fresh, or frozen. Whenever I have melon left over, for example, after making this Honeydew Blueberry Salad with Blue Cheese or Blackberry Honeydew Salad, I cube it and save it in the freezer.
    • lime: just one
    • mint leaves
    • fresh ginger root: just a little
    • sparkling water: read about the benefits of sparkling water in this article, Is Sparkling Water as Healthy as Regular Water?

🔪 How to make this sugar-free mocktail

Complete instructions are in the recipe card below.

Add all ingredients to a blender and process until smooth. The flavour of this honeydew cooler will depend a lot on the sweetness of your melon. Taste and adjust the flavours. Start by adding the juice of half a lime and half a teaspoon of ginger. You can always add more! While this drink is designed to be sugar-free, if your honeydew melon is not particularly sweet, add a little sugar or Monkfruit sweetener to taste.

Add a few ice cubes to glasses, pour the honeydew mixture and top them off with sparkling water.

    Frequently asked questions

Can I make this ahead of time?

Yes! Blend the ingredients and store them in the refrigerator in your blender container. When you're ready to serve, blend again, pour over ice and add sparkling water and a slice of lime.

Can I use another type of melon instead?

Yes! This mocktail is good with watermelon, too. I haven't tried it with cantaloupe, but I think it would be delicious with a sweet melon, like Crenshaw or a Tuscan cantaloupe.

Do I have to add ginger?

No! If you don't have ginger, or don't like it, this cooler will still be refreshing and delicious without ginger.

How can you tell if a honeydew melon is ripe?

It's sometimes difficult to pick a good one. First, check the skin. It should be dull. If it's shiny, it's probably overripe.
Next, pick one that has no soft spots or signs of damage.
A honeydew melon should be fairly heavy for its size.
Most importantly, find the end where it was joined to the vine and have a sniff. It should smell fresh and sweet. If you're having trouble, ask your produce clerk! They usually know which ones will be the sweetest.
