❤️ Why you'll love this Turmeric Tonic

Honey, ginger and lemon with a zippy zing, this refreshing turmeric pick-me-up tonic is full of all things good for you! Its bright, sunshiny colour is a mood-booster, too.

Just consider all the benefits of this tonic!

👍🏼 Amazing health benefits of turmeric tonic

    • Turmeric It's a powerful anti-inflammatory. It's even suspected to offer protection from certain cancers and may help to lower cholesterol.
    • Curcumin Even more important, turmeric contains curcumin, the yellow-orange pigment in turmeric that has been found to benefit those who suffer from inflammatory bowel disease, Crohn's, rheumatoid arthritis and more.
    • Ginger is a natural aid to digestion with anti-inflammatory properties.
    • Coconut water provides an incredible source of electrolytes like potassium and sodium.
    • Lemon gives us Vitamin C.
    • Honey is rich in minerals.

    • fresh ginger
    • turmeric: grated fresh turmeric or ground turmeric
    • lemon juice: freshly squeezed
    • honey
    • salt

    🥄 Instructions

Blend all ingredients in a blender. Serve over ice for a light, refreshing detox drink.

Add a stir stick to stir as you sip if the turmeric or the honey sinks to the bottom of the glass.

🍽 When to serve turmeric drinks

I love this juice in the late afternoon when my energy level is lagging, but the turmeric drink I often make in the evening is this Warm Turmeric Cinnamon Milk.

This "Golden Milk" may also help you relax into sleep. If I ever have trouble sleeping, a mug of this warm sweet milk made with almond milk (or your choice of milk) and turmeric works wonders for me.

If you like ginger and lemon, check my recipe for How to Make Lemon Ginger Tea, too. It's a soothing anti-inflammatory tea, full of antioxidants. It's perfect for summer sipping and for cold and 'flu season, too!

    ❓ Frequently asked questions

How do you remove turmeric stains?

If turmeric stains your countertop or your blender container, it's easy to remove.

Rub the area with a small amount of vegetable oil, followed with a general scrub with your usual cleanser to remove the stain. I also drink this turmeric tonic with a straw to avoid discolouring my teeth!

Enjoy this gentle way to cleanse your body and boost your immune system!

I was surprised how delicious this is. I'm drinking it as I write this and it really is uplifting. I juiced a knob of fresh tumeric and ginger and stirred everything up in a glass. I'm gonna make it for my husband too since he has a lot of gut issues.
      Thank you for the recipe.

Can I use regular water? I don’t have coconut water at this moment.

Sure! It won’t have the same nutrients but it will still be a healthy option and will taste good. Thanks for your question!

Thanks for sharing, but I’m confused, does it help ‘induce’ sleep or is it a pick me up? Article states it’s both 🤔

        Hi Jimmy,
I can see how you may have been confused. In my post, I make a reference to a different recipe on my site for Warm Turmeric Cinnamon Milk which many of my readers have found to be soothing at bed time. From what I’ve read, I’ve learned that turmeric reduces inflammation, it boosts immunity, and it can soothe digestive problems you might be having. It also acts as a liver detox. All these things may help you to have a more restful sleep. When combined with warm milk, it may help you sleep.

        Hi Claudia,
Great question--I would use 1 tsp of ground ginger to replace the fresh. I've added that to the recipe, as others might be wondering too!

I love your turmeric recipes.! I came to the stains removal paragraph and wanted to let you know of a tip. I prepare my turmeric drinks on a metal tray and if it happens to get stained, I just leave it in the sun. The stain will disappear. Also, turmeric is supposed to be good for teeth whitening : I don't know if that is proven to work, but from private experience, I know that it won't turn your teeth yellow. 🙂

I love this Pick me up drink! Can I drink this every day? And occasionally also have the Warm Cinnamon Drink in the evening? I wasn't sure if you could get too much. Thanks for your answer.

I'm not a health professional so I can't advise you on health concerns, but the amounts of spices in each drink are small, so I can't see that it would be a problem. So glad you like these drinks!
